9/1/2023 0 Comments Compile visual studio![]() The promise is, that there won’t be any new, incompatible Visual C runtimes anymore for each Visual Studio product generation. ![]() One more note on using the Visual C / C++ 20 platform target: Microsoft has moved to a new Universal C runtime with Visual Studio 2015. Visual Studio 2017 Community users should be able to install older Visual Studio Express versions to get older build targets (I haven’t tried that out, tough). As Microsoft has moved to Visual Studio subscription licenses, users of VS 2015/2017 Professional/Enterprise should be able to access installers and licenses for these older VS versions through their login (the downloads for older VS versions are a bit hidden - try the search). To enable these build targets, the corresponding platform toolsets need to get installed - the easiest way to do so is by installing the corresponding older Visual Studio versions in parallel to Visual Studio 2015/2017. That’s useful for compiling plugins and other binary components for host applications that were build against older Visual C runtimes, while working in the latest VS Devenv GUI. ![]() Visual C 2008) straight from the VS 2015/2017 GUI.
